The title of this post kind of gives the ending to my story away, doesn’t it?
I recently bought a pair of black joggers from Everlane and they quickly became my favorite pair of lounge pants/pajamas. But then one lazy Sunday morning I needed to go grocery shopping, and I didn’t change out of said sweatpants before leaving my apartment. Actually, because my coat kept the general public from seeing the XL Muscle Milk T shirt I was wearing with the pants, I didn’t change out of anything. I just put on shoes and a coat and went to the grocery store in my pajamas. It felt bad but also so good. I guess it’s never too late to have a little rebellious streak haha.
Of course I can’t just be wearing pajamas in public once the weather gets warmer and I don’t have a coat to shield me from being exposed as the pajama wearing fraud that I am. And that’s where athleisure comes in. Athleisure is kind of genius in that you get to be as comfortable as you are in gym clothes all the time. And you can actually look good (i.e. not like a slob in their pajamas) while you do it, thanks to the fashion industry permeating its way into your gym bag.
Sartorial sweatshirts are kind of a passion of mine, so I was all set there. I ended up adding these Nike sneakers to my collection because they’re a little cleaner looking (and also actually less dirty) than my old converse or my running sneakers. They also feel like you’re walking on a damn trampoline, so that’s a plus.
The leggings are from a new company called Girlfriend Collective (similar here), who were (and maybe still are?) running a special where you can order a pair of their leggings for just the cost of shipping. When they arrived I thought that they were ridiculously small, since lining them up with my other workout leggings left about an inch hanging off of either side of the waist. But I was surprised to find that once I tried them on, I felt snug as a bug and they’ve quickly become my go to gym/post workout/weekend lounging leggings.
And of course the bomber jacket is a new purchase from the J. Crew men’s section. I do love a good bomber jacket, but usually find that they don’t have a lot of volume. I finally found this one and I’m so happy with it =). It has volume and sheen and extra lining so it will be a great piece for transitional seasons.
Overall I’m excited to have another outfit I can throw on and know that I look presentable. Even if I don’t have makeup on and haven’t washed my hair in 3 days.
What do you guys think? What do you like to wear on the weekends? Let me know in the comments!
