I was shopping at the Wrentham Outlets the other weekend, hoping to pop into the Levi’s outlet and find the perfect, effortlessly cool pair of 501s that I’ve been seeing around the internet, when something amazing happened. I passed the Joe’s Jeans store front and saw those magical, only-happens-at-the-outlet signs.
80% OFF EVERYTHING.
I was once a huge fan of Joe’s Jeans. Their standard inseam is 34″, and that’s very hard to come by, so when I discovered them I held on for dear life and bought three pairs of skinny pants in varying colors. Since then, however, my preference has drifted towards high waisted denim, which Joe’s does not offer (at least not at the outlet), and so I’ve started wearing a lot of J. Crew in its place.
Even so, I browsed the steeply discounted outlet store hoping I would find something worth my very few dollars. And there it was, sitting among the lineup of denim; a white short sleeved button down. The tag simply said “the shirt”. The only one was my size.
After practically being paid to take it off their hands, I walked out of the store holding my new purchase (plus an army green button front romper) and immediately started day dreaming about all the outfits I could make with my new “the shirt”. It was essentially the perfect blank canvas.
Here I’ve paired it with the previously mentioned J. Crew high waisted jeans, a pair of Tracy Reese suede booties (that were also a deeply discounted outlet find), and a vintage (maybe) Hermes (maybe) scarf that I picked up at a pop-up vintage store on campus back when I was in college. Accessories consist of my go-to Prada sunglasses, a pair of Dior look-a-like earrings that I got from the Barney’s outlet, a Michael Kors watch and bracelet, and a vintage snake skin clutch I picked up at a yard sale for a dollar. Yes, one dollar. I know, I’m very proud of it too.
What do you guys think? How would you style “the shirt”?
